BACKGROUND
Busan has been chosen as a hosting candidate for the 2030 Expo. However, the city loses its competitive edge in terms of popularity compared to the other candiates, Italy's Rome and Saudi Arabia's Riyadh. To strengthen its chances for selection, Busan is putting greater emphasis on digital transformation by attempting to host the expo in a metaverse setting for global appeal.
